Minions Chocolate Banana Cake Recipe

Banana Chocolate Cake Recipe

Remember eating those delicious chocolate covered banana "monkey tails" as a kid? Those were the best.

Bananas have always been my favorite fruit, but I'm not the only one crazy about bananas anymore. The adorable minions of Despicable Me are all about them, too!

How does their song go?

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-nana

ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-nana...

It's such a cute and catchy tune, no wonder the minions have their own following.

This recipe will give you the same great pairing of chocolate and banana, but in cake form. Perfect for supper, or a special occasion featuring your favorite monkeys and minions.

Banana Chocolate Cake

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups mashed overripe bananas
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixer. Add to the molasses and mix until combined. Add the eggs, mix in the bananas. Mix in the flour, baking soda, salt and vanilla until smooth, then fold in the chocolate chips.

Place the batter in a buttered and floured 9-inch spring-form mold. Bake for about 1 hour. Let the cake cool on a rack, and cut it in half to form 2 layers. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and serve.

Enjoy! 🙂
