Brookside Crunchy Clusters - Berry Medley Flavors

Brookside Crunchy Clusters in Dark Chocolate

Brookside Farms began making their most recognized signature candies - soft and sweet fruit centers coated in dark chocolate - in 1954 in British Columbia. Some of their varieties contain Super Fruits like Acai and Gogi berries.

Over the years, they’ve expanded their chocolate-covered snack line to include Crunchy Clusters.

Brookside Crunchy Clusters - Berry Medley

Brookside Crunchy Clusters - Berry Medley FlavorsThe clusters are a combination of chewy and crunchy bits of crisp rice, granola, and fruit juices that include cranberry, pomegranate, apple, raspberry, blueberry, and lemon. All of this is enrobed in a dark chocolate coating!

When I brought a bag home, my daughter dove into the package and said, “these don’t look very pretty.” I can see her point. They are bumpy and oddly shaped and, dare I say, they remind me a little of what’s on the bottom of our rabbit’s cage!

Yet, their strange looks didn’t stop them from disappearing. I barely had time to eat my fair share for this review! They are delicious and very addicting.

The dark chocolate is bold and rich, and thickly coated enough to stand up to the strong fruit flavors. The crunchy texture matches well with the chewy nature of the fruity center.

The chocolate melts away faster than the cluster, but that doesn’t interfere with the overall experience at all. The flavors, from beginning to end, deliver a well-blended and uniform taste.

On the Brookside Farms website, www.brooksidechocolate.com, next to each product they have a Recipes and Pairings link. The featured pairing for the dark chocolate clusters is Chardonnay, claiming that it complements the complexity of flavors. The featured recipe is the Brookside Signature Trail Mix.

Mmm. Guess what I’m doing this weekend!?

Enjoy!
