Chasers’ Kentucky Chocolates – Bourbon Balls

This summer I had a wonderful vacation in Kentucky. I spent time exploring Mammoth Cave and several Bourbon distilleries.

In fact, if I’m honest, I’d have to say that I spend equal time in each!

Speaking of Bourbon, I came across a chocolate shop that boasts a unique bourbon crème filled chocolate bon bon.

Chasers' Kentucky Chocolateschasers kentucky chocolates is just down the road from Mammoth Cave in Cave City, Kentucky.

They offer Sweet Dark Chocolate covered Bourbon Balls filled with premium Kentucky Bourbons.

In 1980, the company started out small, making chocolate covered liquor creams in a kitchen. Today, they have a boutique shop where they sell 12 different varieties of chocolates with select top shelf liquor fillings.

Tasting The Bourbon Balls

The sweet dark chocolate coating was a perfect level of sweetness to pair with the sweet crème center and strong bourbon flavor.

The chocolate was bold enough to stand up against the bourbon, but in the end, the finish was all bourbon! I could taste alcohol on my tongue long after I finished the candy. Yum!

Chasers' was my first introduction to the Bourbon Ball. I had two other styles while in Kentucky. One was filled with a harder, nougat type center, with bourbon soaked pecans mixed throughout.

The other one was a virgin bourbon ball, for those under the age of 21! I much preferred the Chasers' version, but the ones with pecans soaked in bourbon were pretty good, too.

You don’t have to visit Kentucky (but you really should!) to enjoy Bourbon Balls. You can order them from the company, but they don't have an ecommerce site at the moment. Contact information is at their website, www.chaserskentuckychocolate.com.

They only ship during cooler weather, October through March, so plan accordingly.

Enjoy!
