Chocolate Brown Sugar Cookies Recipe

Chocolate Recipe CUO

I never knew what made brown sugar so special when I was a tiny baker, only that whenever a recipe called for it, the result would be finger-licking good.

Thanks to the addition of molasses, brown sugar makes these cookies taste oh so delicious.

I always thought brown sugar looked an awful lot like sand, and apparently, I'm not the only one who had that idea!

Mary, from Home Is Where the Boat Is, has been making beautiful tablescape decorations with molded brown sugar. From turtles, to sea shells, to mermaids, all her creations look lovely and elegant.

Are you having a summertime celebration or backyard BBQ soon? You could try creating your own table-top "sandcastle" and make your guests feel like the sea is right near by. Or, bring out some extra brown sugar and get everyone in on the fun!

Your guests will have a sugar craving after they see your creations! No worries, you can serve them up these tasty chocolate and brown sugar cookies, AND have fun playing in the sand. 😉

Chocolate Brown Sugar Cookies

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375°. Cream together the butter and the brown sugar, add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add honey.

Measure flour and baking soda and add flour and soda to batter a little at a time and mix. Add chocolate chips.

Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 5-8 minutes at 375°.

Enjoy! 🙂
