Chocolate Pear Dessert Recipe

I'd imagine that the Red Queen would have been nibbling away at something like this delicious chocolate and pear pudding dessert while unbeknownst to her, Alice had slipped her way into her kingdom of Wonderland.

A favorite quote from the tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, and the Mad Hatter:

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

If you haven't read the tale, I highly suggest that you do, just after you make this tasty dessert to accompany it. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, known best under the pen name Lewis Carroll, was born in England in 1832. He is remembered as one of the world's first inventive literary geniuses.

Chocolate Pear Dessert

  • 2 cups cold skim milk;
  • 1 chocolate flavor fat-free sugar instant reduced calorie pudding & pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange or almond extract
  • 4 fully ripe pears, halved
  • 2 teaspoons walnuts or almonds, chopped fine

Pour milk and extract in medium bowl. Add pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 1 minute. Let stand 5 minutes. Place pear halves in 8 dessert dishes. Spoon pudding evenly over pears. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon walnuts over each serving. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Enjoy! 🙂
