Dark Chocolate With Passion Fruit Filling

While rummaging through my chocolate drawer, I found a bar that had somehow found its way to the very bottom, hidden underneath all the other chocolates. What caught my eye was a square block of chocolate wrapped in bright yellow packaging with large reddish-pink print: “Dark Chocolate with Passion Fruit Filling”.

Sometimes I forget where some of the chocolate comes from that winds up in my chocolate drawer. Did I buy it? Was it a gift from someone? Is it a gift for someone that I forgot to give (that happens to you too, right!?)?

Well, this was one of those times that I was left scratching my head – how did it end up here? It didn’t help that the brand name was missing. Or at least not obvious.

So, I did a search on the internet for “Dark Chocolate with Passion Fruit Filling” and turns out, it came from World Market, a Cost Plus chain store (I see now that the find print on the back says “distributed by Cost Plus, Inc).

Mystery solved. Now I remember. I got it as a gift.

The aroma is earthy and fruity. The dark chocolate is thick and covers a layer of yellow-orange filling. The filling is tart and sour, while the chocolate is sweet and rich. They complement each other well.

Tip: it’s best to break off a scored square and pop the whole piece in your mouth. Otherwise, if you bite off a chunk, the chocolate will break easily and the filling will run out and slide down between your fingers. Just saying.

When I shared this bar at work, it got good reviews. The filling was a hit among all. Each bite-sized square is very rich, so eating just one will satisfy an afternoon craving.

I love the wrapper too. It's colorful, and has a cute tropical looking bird on the front. It looks… fun. And it was fun to eat. Sticky fingers and all.
