Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt and Crushed Coffee

Salazon chocolates are made from Dominican Republic, 100% organic, Rainforest Alliance and Fair Trade certified cacao beans. Then each bar is hand-sprinkled with solar-evaporated sea salt.

Salt is often added to chocolate to make the chocolatey notes stand out. Salt balances any acidity and bitterness and can even make the chocolate taste sweeter. In short, salted chocolates taste fuller and richer than their unsalted counterparts.

Salazon - dark chocolate sea salt coffeeThis phenomenon is quite apparent when you eat a Salazon Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt & Crushed Organic Coffee chocolate bar.

After I had my first bite, I could have sworn it was a 70% chocolate bar. It was not, it’s 57% chocolate!

Chocolate With Coffee

The coffee stands out, too. This is the best chocolate bar with coffee I’ve ever had.

The crushed pieces of coffee matches the texture of the crushed salt crystals, and everything just explodes with flavor in your mouth.

The chocolate is nutty with a hint of spice, and it's heavy on the cocoa notes.

The coffee has a deep roasted flavor (Guatemalan, my favorite!!) without overwhelming the chocolate. They really complement each other perfectly.

As I said, this is the best chocolate and coffee bar I’ve had.

Here’s a fun fact, Salazon Chocolate Company donates at least 1% of their gross proceeds from the sale of this chocolate bar to support the Pacific Crest Trails Association. Their mission to preserve and protect the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.

I bet this bar is a great source of energy, as well as enjoyment, when you’re hiking any trail. And did I mentioned it’s the best chocolate bar with coffee I’ve ever tasted?!

Enjoy!
