Lindt Classic Recipe Hazelnut

Milk Chocolate Lovers Series, part 2: Lindt Classic Recipe - Hazelnut

What do Lindt bars and my spouse have in common? I fell in love with them in college!

In fact, my future husband introduced me to my first Lindt bar. We’d only been dating a month before he left on a college trip over the winter holidays. I was very impressed when he returned to campus with a large quantity of assorted Lindt chocolate bars.

He carefully rationed each bar so we could appreciate them for the rare luxury they were and make them last as long as possible...

Every night after eating dinner in the cafeteria, we’d go back to his dorm room where he would reach in to his sock drawer, uncover the precious chocolates like unearthing secret treasure, and serve out a precious square or two. We would close our eyes, ooh and aah, and take in the moment as the ultimate experience on earth.

At first I agreed to this practical approach, but soon discovered it was pure torture!

One blissful instant and then, poof, it was over.  The bars were quickly hidden, left to be re-experienced another day. Like I said, t-o-r-t-u-r-e.  Can you believe I still married him!?

Review of the Lindt Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Bar

While getting ready to review this Lindt Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, and reflecting on this nostalgic memory, it suddenly dawns on me that I’m not the original creator of the “chocolate drawer” in our family! Well, at least I don’t share the space with my socks.

Lindt Classic Recipe Hazelnut contains 31% cocoa solids. That’s a respectable amount of chocolate impact. The percentage of milk must high as well because the cooked caramel and sweet cream notes present themselves immediately.

Chocolatey notes with hints of honey and vanilla follow, along with nutty notes toward the end. The chocolate is soft and melts rather quickly, while the hazelnut pieces stay crunchy.

The hazelnuts physically outlast the chocolate but lingering milky and buttery notes persist a long time. This bar delivers a nice progression of flavor - milky gives way to sweet, which gives way to chocolate, which gives way to nutty.

For me, Lindt bars are special. Today, I enjoyed a good milk chocolate and a great trip down memory lane.
