New Dark Chocolate Coffee Truffles

David Bacco Chocolatier and Cup of Luxury Coffee introduce Dark Chocolate Coffee Truffles.

These truffles are beautifully decorated with a shiny cocoa butter paint almost too pretty to eat (when has that ever stopped me!?) prepared in four delicious varieties; Black Label, Umbra, Paramount, and Costa Rica.

The main reason to love these chocolate truffles is simple; they do an amazing job of blending unique and exotic coffee flavors with dark, rich chocolate. They combine textures from a crunchy dark chocolate coating with a soft, melt-in-your-mouth ganache, all while delivering a satisfying taste experience in one bite-sized mouthful!

Four Chocolate Truffle Options

Black Label: Starts off with strong coffee right away, then lingers a while until deep cocoa and subtle vanilla and honey notes appear in the middle. There is a burst of smooth roasted cocoa and coffee notes at the end that leaves a long lasting and very pleasant aftertaste.

Umbra: Slightly acidic, earthy, nutty roasted coffee notes are found at the beginning, followed by a nice chocolate with subtle fruity notes and finishing with a bitter, astringent coffee aftertaste with a hint of leather and toast.

Paramount: This truffle really shows off the chocolate! This coffee variety is beautifully balanced with the rich, deep cocoa notes from beginning to end. You taste dried fruit and vanilla and honey in the chocolate with a slightly smoky, roasted coffee in the background and as an aftertaste.

Costa Rica: Roasted coffee with flavors of tobacco and wood kick off this truffle tasting. The cocoa notes have a mild impact in the middle and the coffee is somewhat subdued at the end, accompanied by a little acidity and dryness.

This assortment of coffee truffles offers something for everyone. If you want strong coffee to dominate your taste buds, then you’ll enjoy the Black Label and Umbra. If you prefer milder coffee with a stronger chocolate punch, then Paramount and Costa Rica will please you. And, if you’re like me, you have many chocolate moods so you can enjoy each one as it fits into your day!

(Please note that these are preliminary reviews of some pre-release truffles! Since I first tasted these, I have learned that some adjustments were made. David Bacco says that the newest truffles have improved balance, less sweetness, and fuller and richer flavor, with the coffee and chocolate notes working together in even better harmony. I can't wait to try the final product!)
