Perugina Milk Chocolate with Almonds

Milk Chocolate Lovers Series, part 7: Perugina Milk Chocolate with Caramelized Almonds

Welcome to the last review in the Milk Chocolate Lovers series. There are so many milk chocolates out there it's impossible to cover them all. My goal was to review milk chocolates that are commonly found and easy to purchase.

These chocolates are found in places like grocery stores, department stores, and even the corner drug store. The chocolate brands reviewed are fairly familiar to most U.S. chocolate lovers even though many are known in Europe.

There are, of course, many small batch, artisan crafted chocolates that can be purchased online. This taps into a niche of great tasting chocolates but it requires a bit of work on your part. In the near future, I hope to begin a series of reviews of craft chocolates (milk and dark) and how to get your hands on them!

About Perugina

Perugina is an Italian brand of chocolate with a long history – it started back in 1907. It’s named after the city in which it was founded, Perugina, Italy.

Although the company introduced their products to the U.S. at the World’s Fair in New York City in 1939, many people haven’t had the opportunity to taste the chocolate until it became a division of the Nestle Corporation.

Today, you can find Perugina in grocery stores and department stores all over the U.S.

I have reviewed one other Perugina bar and that was their Dark Chocolate Limoncello. This time, I am reviewing their Milk Chocolate with Caramelized Almonds.

Milk Chocolate with Caramelized Almonds

Perugina Milk Chocolate with AlmondsFor me, this Perugina milk chocolate bar is fruity all the way through with a hint of banana and apricot. There’s a tropical floral note every once in a while too.

I taste caramel notes with honey and vanilla. Nutty and earthy and cocoa notes all come toward the end. The finish is definitely caramel and chocolate.

The almonds are tiny and they give a nice texture, but they are not very impactful.

The chocolate is soft and melts quickly on my fingers as well as in my mouth. The chocolate is delicate and flavorful, but in my opinion, has the lowest amount of milk chocolate intensity so far in the series.

There’s no indication of cacao percentage on the label, so I can’t say one way or another if that is a factor. That said, it’s a pleasant chocolate with a nice texture.

As always, I appreciate your reviews of chocolates, too! Pick a milk chocolate and tell me about. I'd love to hear from you!

As of this writing, the individual bars cost too much on Amazon, so here's a link to a 12-pack instead. You can start there and see if other options have become available.
