Thindulgent Dark Chocolate Pistachio Toffee Bark

From the makers of Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle™, comes another snacking chocolate called Thindulgent™ Dark Chocolate Bark.

It’s made in a variety of flavors: Milk Chocolate Cashew Toffee, Dark Chocolate Pistachio Toffee, Milk Chocolate S’mores, Milk Chocolate Caramel Pretzel, and Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt.

Today, I’m munching on Dark Chocolate Pistachio Toffee. These thin chunks of bark have pistachios and toffee pieces embedded in dark chocolate and drizzled with salted caramel coating. I’m sorry to say, I'm a tad disappointed.

Dark Chocolate With Pistachios

Earlier, summer of 2016, I wrote a blog that reviewed Nestle’s damak™ Dark Chocolate with Pistachios.

I haven’t tried many chocolates with pistachios so I remember the damak as outstanding, mostly due to the robust pistachio flavor. With this flavor in mind, Sheila G's Thindulgent falls short.

The first thing that jumps out at me is all the melted chocolate on my fingers as I reached into the bag to pull out a chunk. Not a big deal, it’s just really annoying.

The chocolate bends, not breaks. That’s neither bad nor good, just an observation. However, I do prefer a harder chocolate with a nice ‘snap’.

The overall taste in my mouth is a salty, buttery, and sweet amalgam in which the chocolate is subdued and the pistachio, unfortunately, flavorless. If I close my eyes, I can’t tell pistachios are present.

The salted caramel flavored coating is very sweet and, while it adds the saltiness, the caramel notes get lost in the sweetness. The toffee provides a nice crunch and gives a creamy, brown sugar flavor when ever you bite into the pieces.

I like, but don’t love, this snacking chocolate. However, I get the feeling I might have the minority opinion on this.

I can imagine that many people will love it. And they will, probably precisely because of the things I find distracting, like the sweetness level and the soft, melty chocolate.

One thing I bet we can all agree on - it could use more pistachios!!

(I found this at Sam's Club. Here's a link to it on Amazon which isn't as good a deal.)
