South Australians Have Favoritisms

With the mere mention of chocolate, I could almost feel my mouth watering and my stomach rumbling. I may have exaggerated that a little bit, but you get the picture. I'm a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, and chocolate never fails to sweep me of my feet. It's something I yearn for all the time, something I crave in the wee hours of the night. Give me chocolate and you're sure to make me giddy.

However, despite my mad affection toward chocolate, I cannot single out each and every one of them. You cannot blame me for loving anything and everything about chocolate. I guess it's safe to say that I'm not the only one in this. As a chocoholic, I am most certainly aware of some flavors, shapes, and manufacturers. There are different and unique ways of processing them into becoming chocolates oozing with delight. Pardon me for being obsessed and indecisive, but I just want all of them. Well, not all of them, but most of them.

That is why I bow down to South Australians who know what they want when it comes to their chocolates. As vulgar as it may seem, but they actually play favorites. The majority of their choice for chocolate can be classified as fruity. Haigh's Chocolates revealed sales figures which showed that their people lean more on toward milk to dark chocolates. Among those, the best sellers are the milk-chocolate "Aprichocs" and dark-chocolate covered apricots.

This is way different from their neighboring states such as Melbourne and Sydney. The Sydneysiders, as they call them, go gaga over dark scorched almonds while the mates from Melbourne placed peppermint-flavoured chocolate on top of the list.

From the mouths of people, South Australian apricots are the best in the world as told by Haigh's chief executive Alister Haigh. The people from that side of the country developed a more refined but bold taste when it comes to chocolates. They have managed to associate fruits with chocolates most of the time. Interesting, eh? It's like hitting two birds with one stone in a parallel universe. In ours, it's savoring two flavors in one single bite.

My chocolaty senses tell me not to hold out for a trip to Australia just so I could taste their beloved treat. I would just have to look for online stores, click buy and wait until I experience chocolate, South Australian style. Or maybe I can just swing by the grocery store...
