Nutella Sued For False Advertising

Parents should be cautious about their children's health, especially regarding the food they eat on a daily basis.

A popular, spreadable, chocolate-based treat is Nutella, a product that is made by Ferrero Rocher Incorporated.  Have you ever tried Googling the exact ingredients of this product online?  Most people would think a manufacturer would be completely honest with this type of information, but some have sued saying that lapses were made.

The claim is that the company hadn't been entirely truthful regarding their famous and well-selling product. Nutella is said to contain hazelnuts, cocoa powder, skim milk powder, vegetable oil, sugar, soy lecithin, and vanillin.  Doesn't sound too bad, does it?

Two mothers have reportedly sued the company because the product was advertised as a healthy food.  They suggest that the nutritional value of the product is suspect.

Solar Energy Helps Melt The Chocolate

The manufacturers of the Las Vegas favorites Ethel M Chocolates, Mars Chocolate North America, just recently stated that a solar power system at its Henderson, Nevada, chocolate factory will be opened.

The installation is being referred to as "garden" by Mars since the solar panels are located beside the Botanical Cactus Garden in their factory. During peak hours of operation, it provides all the electrical current required to power up the Ethel M’s plant.

The solar power system is composed of 2,112 solar panels on 4.4 acres mounted into the ground. Allegedly, the installation is the biggest of its kind among manufacturers of food based in Nevada, and it is said to be able to produce 1,258 megawatt hours of electrical current in a year. That would be equal to what 115 average households in Nevada make use of.

Chocolate for Cats?

Neighborhood Cats has been chosen as the Charity of the Month for November 2011 by Rescue Chocolate, a Brooklyn NY-headquartered chocolatier which was founded in January 2010. 100% of the net profits from each handcrafted, all-natural vegan treats are donated to animal welfare organizations across the country.

The Neighborhood Cats are aiming to encourage humane measures to lower the feral cat population in the country. The particular measure they are taking is called TNR (trap-neuter-return). TNR engages trained volunteers to gather the feral cats that they can find, getting the cats spayed or neutered, and then returning them to their colonies to peacefully live out their lives. Also NY-based, Neighborhood Cats is well-known in the feral field as developers of educational materials including books, videos, and online courses that tackle TNR.

"I’ve lived with dogs all my life and never with cats," said Rescue Chocolate Founder Sarah Gross. "But I’m certainly aware of the problems that cats face on the streets. I’m really honored to be able to be a small part of the solution."
