M&M’s 49% Dark Chocolate Peanut

This past week was snacking on the new 49% dark chocolate peanut m&m's.

Naturally, I assumed that the “49%” advertised on the label indicated that there is now more chocolate in the recipe. I don’t really know for certain, since I haven't been able to find the cacao percentage for the original dark peanut m&m's.

Chocolate Genome For Better Tasting Chocolates

Weekends are always fun for me. I always like to keep it fun and filled with activities I can't do during weekdays. However, when things don't go my way and they don't go as planned for my weekend, I get devastated. Do I sound bratty if I say I get upset when my weekend plans don’t pull through? A little bit?

Times like this, the idea of some chocolate going into my mouth is not so bad. Nice to hear about the open access journal Genome Biology backing me up. They have launched a fully sequenced genome for the cacao plant which could supposedly yield even better tasting chocolates.

Milky Way Frosting

Many of us take joy in dipping a finger into a head-tilting yummy bowl of cake frosting and then popping it into our mouth. There are even times when the frosting’s just so good I’m willing to sacrifice the cake so I can have more calories to spare.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that cake frosting recipes are so diverse, and every one of them has their own appeal.

The Milky Way bar is a chocolate bar distributed by the Mars confectionery company. The American Milky Way bar has chocolate-malt nougat topped with caramel and covered with milk chocolate, just like the Mars bar sold in other countries.

Mars Seeks a Disclaimer

There are a lot of patented and trademarked foods made by multinational companies and sold around the world.  But sometimes, they get used in ways that the companies don't intend.   For example, Mars chocolate bars are being deep fried to give them a whole new taste and appeal to a new market.

A shop located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, called Carron Fish Bar has been claiming for years that it was the place of origin of deep fried Mars bars.

The Mars company has openly stated to the public, and owners alike, that serving their product fried totally deviates from the principles of healthy living that the company stands for.
