The Dillon Bar – Pure Milk Chocolate Vanilla

Milk Chocolate Lovers Series, part 4: The Dillon Bar - Pure Milk Chocolate Vanilla

I have previously blogged about the Wisconsin based Dillon’s Chocolates back in June of 2016. I reviewed several different varieties of their Wisconsin Bar. Now, I’m taking a look at their Dillon Bar - a much larger, more standard sized chocolate bar (3.5 oz.).

What grabbed my attention at the grocery store was the sale price (of course!) at 5 for $5, normally sold for around $2 each.

A chocolate bar for a dollar. Who can pass that up?

Well… usually I take a pass, and have done so on many occasions. As many of my blog readers know, I have low expectations from chocolate bars that cost a dollar. However, The Wisconsin Bar proved me wrong, so it made sense to give The Dillon Bar a chance.

In keeping with my current Chocolate Lover’s series, I chose the Pure Milk Chocolate Vanilla bar.

The Pure Milk Chocolate Vanilla Dillon Bar

The Dillon Bar - Pure Milk Chocolate VanillaThe aroma is, very simply, chocolate and vanilla. The texture is on the thick side along with some grittiness. It melts slowly in the mouth. It’s soft and a little chewy.

The flavor profile is also simple and straight forward. Strong notes of honey, caramel, and toffee are there from beginning to end.

At the end, there’s a nice chocolatey vanilla finish. Yes, it is sweet, and that hits you right at the start, but the cooked dairy and chocolate flavors dominate quickly and evenly throughout.

On my milk chocolate spectrum, this ranks right in the middle.

(My personal spectrum has Hershey milk chocolate on the low end and lots of small batch, artisan milks on the upper end. Lindt and Lindor sit just at the beginning of my favorites ranked toward the top).
