Chocolate Revel Bars Recipe (Easy & Irresistible!)

There’s something special about a dessert that feels both simple and irresistible at the same time. Chocolate Revel Bars are exactly that. They have a soft, chewy oatmeal base, a rich chocolate center, and a crumbly topping that makes every bite feel cozy and satisfying. They’re perfect for family gatherings, bake sales, holidays, or just when you’re craving something sweet and homemade. Check out the recipe here.

What Are Chocolate Revel Bars?

These irresistible treats are layered dessert bars made in a single pan. The bottom layer is a buttery oatmeal cookie dough that doubles as the crumble topping. In the middle, there’s a smooth and creamy chocolate fudge layer.

When baked together, the layers create a soft, chewy, chocolate-filled treat that’s hard to resist. They may look fancy, but they’re actually very easy to prepare.

Homemade Chocolate Revel Bars Recipe

What you need:

For the Crust & Topping:

  • ½ cup melted coconut oil or unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup coconut sugar or maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Chocolate Layer:

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher)
  • ⅓ cup natural peanut butter or almond butter
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

What to do:

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, mix melted coconut oil and coconut sugar (or maple syrup). Add the eggs and vanilla and stir until smooth.

3. In another bowl, combine whole wheat flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a thick dough forms.

4. Press about two thirds of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan.

5. Melt the dark chocolate gently and stir in peanut butter, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Spread the chocolate mixture over the crust.

6. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the top. Then bake for 20–25 minutes or until lightly golden.

7. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Helpful Tips for Success

Letting the bars cool fully will give you clean, neat slices. Using parchment paper makes removal easy and prevents sticking.

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. If you’d like to keep them longer, they freeze very well.

Simple Ways to Change It Up

  • Chopped walnuts or pecans for crunch
  • Chia seeds or flaxseed for extra fiber
  • A sprinkle of sea salt on top
  • Unsweetened shredded coconut

Chocolate Revel Bars are one of those classic desserts that never go out of style. They’re rich but not too sweet, chewy but soft, and full of comforting homemade flavor.

Bake a batch and watch them disappear!
