Ample Hills Creamery – Dark Chocolate

We’re walking along Disney’s BoardWalk and Alan whispers in my ear, “Do you want to taste the best ice cream in the world?” I really want to answer with a sarcastic, “Duh...” but I don’t. Instead I just nod a lot and start to drool. Conditioned response to the words “ice cream”!

Super Chocolate Sorbet

Summer is still around, except of course if you’re from the Land Down Under or Antarctica. And I got myself some new appliances the past weekend, ice cream maker included. Yay adulthood! Yay me!

What I’m sharing with you today though is not, I repeat, NOT a heavy chocolate ice cream. This is a sorbet (chocolate and water). Light, refreshing, but very, very rich! I wasn’t really holding my breath for something spectacular when I was making it, but then I took a spoonful… And another one. And another one. It was head-tilting good! Banana Mocha Ice Cream

Double Dutch used to be my favorite ice cream growing up. Rocky Road followed suit. I wasn't crazy about straight vanilla until I was in my teenage years. Quadruple Chocolate Eclair Ice Cream

As I write this, I’m not at my happiest. Times like this, I find it challenging to have an appetite for food. Even my favorite foods, that make me a happy girl during ordinary days, just won’t cut it. Ice cream, on the other hand, is an exception!

I find the coolness and the flavor very comforting. I especially like mocha/coffee, pistachio, slated caramel, and of course, chocolate ice cream. This one's a nice, fancy take on chocolate ice cream. I'm sure anyone's spirit will be lifted.

The Origins Of Ice Cream

Ice cream is often called "The Greatest American Dessert." Although the product is usually American, the United States cannot claim its origin and source.

Ice cream is a frozen dairy dessert made from cream or milk, often combined and manufactured with other flavors and fruits. Most of the time it contains sugar, though sometimes other sweeteners are used.

The chosen ingredients are stirred slowly while the product is being cooled.  This allows the air to be integrated and prevents the forming of ice crystals. The result is then a smooth, semi-solid foam that is highly malleable and can easily be scooped.  I'm drooling just thinking about it.
