Previously, I wrote a review on a Moser Roth single origin milk chocolate sourced from Ghana. For today's review, this single origin dark chocolate bar is made from cacao grown in the Dominican Republic.
In recent years, the Dominican Republic exported roughly 62,000 tons of cacao, about 55% of that was organic. The country uses around 805,000 acres to grow organic crops.
Dominican cacao is highly sought after by chocolate manufacturers, especially in Europe. The beans have a high cocoa butter content that delivers great flavor and is considered a “gourmet” cocoa.
Moser Roth 35% Ghana Milk Chocolate

This Moser Roth® 35% milk chocolate bar is made from 100% Ghanaian cacao.
It contains 5 milk chocolate squares, individually wrapped, adding up to slightly over 4 ounces (125 grams). Each bar is the perfect size for snacking, and is totally satisfying.

It's after 9
pm, the kids are in bed, and I am in the mood to r-e-l-a-x. I decide to try a chocolate bar I have not had before, Moser Roth premium dark 85%. This bar is intensely nutty, soft on fruit and earth. The snap is hard and the melt is slow to release its flavors.
I can sense that the bar lacks a little something, and then the light goes on. I need to pair this bar with wine. Since I don't have time to pick and choose, I reach for the malbec I have on hand. It is a 2008 Reserve from Alma Andina vineyard, Mendoza region Argentina. The label set me up to be hopeful as it describes the tasting notes concentrated in red and black fruit flavors, hints of toasted vanilla with a long cherry finish.
