Christopher Elbow Chocolates

On a recent family vacation to Summit County Colorado, I had the delightful opportunity to explore quaint downtown shops in and around Keystone and Breckenridge. On one such wondering, we found ourselves in the Christoher Elbow chocolate store.
Christopher Elbow Chocolates, www.elbowchocolates.com, started in Kansas City, Missouri in 2003, producing hand-crafted chocolate bonbons and confections. They also have locations in Breckenridge, Colorado, San Francisco, California and Yountville, California.
The first thing that grabbed my attention was the artistry on display. The chocolate bon bons looked like works of art. Oh, and free tasting samples of their Fleur De Sel Caramel from the Signature Collection. Free samples always make a good impression with me! Especially when it tastes as good as it looks.
I bought a box of dark chocolate covered candied orange peel and a Blueberry Lavender dark chocolate bar. I adore the flavor combinations of orange and chocolate and lavender and chocolate. And these chocolates did not disappoint!
The Italian candied orange peels are covered in a 64% dark chocolate blend. Right away, the sweet orange flavors flooded my mouth followed by the rich dark chocolate offering soft nutty and vanilla notes. The chewiness of the orange peel stayed a bit longer after the chocolate was gone, leaving the very last flavor memory as candied orange. I could eat the entire box at once.
The Blueberry Lavendar bar is made from 64% dark chocolate infused with lavender oil and organic dried blueberries. Floral lavender notes hit first, followed by sweet blueberry flavor toward the end. Smooth cocoa notes provide a steady stream of chocolate flavor throughout the bite.
It’s hard to find the nuanced flavors in the chocolate because lavender and blueberry are very dominant. No matter - the overall experience blends all the flavors nicely. Absolutely delicious!
