Chocolate Crafters of Yuma, AZ

No matter where I travel or visit, I must keep with the tradition of seeking out (and sampling!) the local chocolate shops. During my recent mid-winter retreat to Yuma, AZ to visit my in-laws, I discovered Chocolate Crafters. They opened last fall so they are brand new to the Yuma chocolate scene.
Right after walking in the door Lorena, one of the owners, asked if I was a first time visitor of the shop...
"Indeed I am," I answered, and she proceeded to entice me with many free samples! And if that wasn’t the greatest thing to happen to me that day, I learned she made handcrafted candied orange peel covered in 62% dark chocolate! Oh heaven!
Orange trees are everywhere in Yuma so the freshest orange peel is right in her backyard. The chocolate couverture is Belgian made and only available in dark.
The candied orange peel was perfectly sweet, crispy, and “orangy.” The chocolate was slightly muted by the strong orange flavor, but the balance was smooth and harmonious. The lingering finish was a pleasant cocoa with a hint of vanilla and spice.
For $5.00, I left with 13 pieces of chocolate covered orange peel -- satisfaction in a bag.

As a customer of Chocolate Crafters I must tell everyone that you will positively swoon in ectasy when sampling the chocolate from this store. My personal favorite is the pecan sea turtles which are loaded with pecans. This chocolatier does not skimp. The chocolate is rich and smooth. I also bought several flavors of the truffles and I haven’t yet decided which I like more but the hot and spicy was unexpected and extraordinary.
If you go to Yuma make the stop, it’s the first exit off I-8 as you enter town.
