Mr. Dot Bar Review

Still staying safely at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of my everyday regimen, I exercise, keep connected on Zoom or Facetime, and of course, eat chocolate. I’ve dabbled in yardwork and organizing junk drawers, but for some reason those activities just don’t have the same appeal as chatting with friends and blogging about chocolate!

This time I have a stinker of a candy bar to tell you about – or maybe I should say, warn you about. I have to use the term “candy bar” because the Mr. Dot Bar is not a chocolate bar. It’s a chocolate flavored bar, made with a confectionery or candy coating and not a cocoa butter chocolate coating. That’s strike one in my book.

Mr. Dot Bars from Dot's Homestyle PretzelsEver hear of Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels? They are pretzel twists that have been seasoned with butter and spices. I admit they are delicious and addicting. Mr. Dot Bars are made from those seasoned pretzels (seasoned as in garlic and onion), then mixed with toffee bits and covered in candy coating. That’s strike two for me. I don’t think onion-garlic anything goes with chocolate flavoring.

I paid $1.99 per bar at my grocery store, though I saw them briefly on Amazon for $2.50. Overpriced for not real chocolate. Strike three.

So everything I’ve said is a matter of opinion. My opinion. I just don’t care for the flavor, and I’m not a fan of confectionery coating. And I’d rather pay two bucks for a chocolate bar made with a high percentage of cacao and cocoa butter.

You might absolutely love the Mr. Dot Bar. Only one way to find out – give it a try. But do remember, I warned you!

Of course, you are welcome to comment on your experience.
