Vegan Hot Chocolate

Simple Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe Using 2 Ingredients

Who doesn’t love a good cup of hot chocolate? It is by far my favorite type of chocolate drink. I especially crave for one with a thick consistency, and something that is not too sweet.

Well, I hear you! Make your own yummy and healthy vegan hot chocolate using only 2 ingredients! Check the recipe below.

Most of the hot chocolates that are being served nowadays are full of sugar. That is why creating your own and using healthier milk alternatives is a better solution to ensure you’ll get all its nutritional goodness.

This recipe required vegan chocolates. Chocolate can be vegan, since it is made from cacao beans which are from the cacao trees. So, technically, it’s a plant-based food.

Trying to lose weight? Then this recipe is for you! Even if you are not trying to lose weight, then this is perfect as well for those who just want to drink a hot chocolate that is a little bit healthier than what is out there.

To make this recipe, you will be needing a plant-based milk of your choice, and some vegan chocolates.

Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe

What you need:

  • 3oz chopped chocolate bar (your choice of vegan chocolate)
  • 8oz milk (your choice of any plant-based milk)
  • Optional: A pinch of salt or your choice of sweetener

What to do:

Chop your chocolate bars to the smallest size possible. Add more chocolate slivers if you like your drink thick like I do! Then, set aside.

In a saucepan, over low heat, heat the milk until hot to touch. Do not boil.

Turn off the heat and move the milk to a mug or a bowl. Add the chopped chocolates and let it sit for at least two minutes. Do not stir. This will allow the chocolates to melt on their own.

After 2-5mins, stir your drink! Add a pinch of salt or your chosen sweetener and your hot chocolate is ready to be served.

For extra oomph, sprinkle your favorite vegan chocolate shavings on top!

That was easy, huh? You can always add ice cubes to make it a summer drink!
