Chocolate Cherry Cookies with Chocolate Drizzle

This is one of those recipes that look as good as it tastes!  Or does it taste as good as it looks?  You decide.  Enjoy this with your Valentine Sweetheart.

Chocolate Cherry Cookies with Chocolate Drizzle

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 10 oz. jar maraschino cherries
• 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
(you can use milk chocolate if you prefer)

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Beat the butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and baking powder and mix well.

Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press in the center of each ball using your thumb.

Drain cherries and reserve the juice. Put a single cherry in the indentation of each cookie ball.

In a saucepan, mix together the condensed milk and chopped chocolate and heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons of reserved cherry juice.

Drizzle about 1 teaspoon of chocolate/cherry mixture over each cookie (try to cover the cherry, too).   You may have to add more cherry juice to make frosting spreadable.

Bake for 10 minutes.

Enjoy!
