Indulgence Chocolate – Cranberry Pumpkin Seed

Just as fall leaves were reaching their peak colors, and pumpkin was on my mind, I happened upon a 54% chocolate bar from Indulgence called Cranberry Pumpkin Seed. I bought it and took it along with me as I visited a dear friend and her mother one evening. We broke open the bar with high expectations. It did not disappoint – well, almost.

My friend loved it! I liked it, too, but was a little let down when I discovered that number of dried cranberry pieces and pumpkin seeds were few and far between. More often than not, when I bit off a section to eat, I either had one or two dried cranberries for my mouthful, or I had a couple of pumpkin seeds. I never did have both of them in my mouth at the same time.

When I looked over the entire bar, I got the impression that the items were placed by hand in an orderly fashion - a cranberry here and a pumpkin seed there. The overall look was very precise and pretty. But I would have liked to have had both the cranberry and the pumpkin seed flavors mingle at the same time while chewing the chocolate. Perhaps it was just a fluke that it ended up that way.

Enough negative talk, let’s focus on the positives! The chocolate on its own was very good; a little nutty and very cocoa hearty. AND, this bar paired very well with both a Pinot Noir and a Cabernet that we popped open!
