Kashi Chocolate Almond and Sea Salt with Chia Chewy Granola Bar

The first thing I noticed about the Kashi Chocolate Almond and Sea Salt with Chia Chewy Granola Bar is they don’t skimp on the almonds!

The almonds have a great roasted flavor that brings out robust nutty notes. I especially enjoy the crunch and texture of the almonds along with the 7-grain blend and chia seeds.

The chocolate is rich, chocolaty and a little earthy.

The chocolate tends to get over powered by the nuttiness, but the sea salt creates quick bursts of intense chocolate with each bite. A nice surprise! There is a pleasant salty aftertaste, too.

In addition to being very tasty, it can keep my hunger at bay when I’m late in sitting down to a meal, or perking me up when I’m running low on energy during work. Just put one of these bars in your purse or car, or throw one in your pocket to use when you need a bit more power to keep going.

An interesting ingredient in this bar is chia seed. Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. They are an unprocessed, whole-grain food that can be processed by the body even as whole seeds (unlike flax seeds which must be crushed or ground for you to get nutritional benefit).

Just one ounce of chia seeds has about 11 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein. According to Kashi’s website, this granola bar has 160 mg of ALA Omega-3.
